ABOUT USStarted by Graham Turner(born 1954) in June 1976 ,same year I met my wife Angela (Married 1980),after spending sometime as an apprentice in Masterton NZ (1971) plus sometime in Australia at Bexley saddle shop Sydney (1974)I decided to leave W.Wiggins LtdWhere I had worked in the saddlery department and go it on my own setting up at my parents place in Titahi Bay Wgtn of which i worked for 7yrs before moving to Raumati on the Kapiti Coast where I shared a workshop with boot & shoe maker Tex Bell for 3 yrs before moving to my own building in Reikorangi,Waikanae where we built on our property in 1986 where we have remained ever since enjoying the rural lifestyle. I have had 3 apprentices work for me with only 1 finishing his time. We have 5 horses of our own and raise cattle for a small extra income. I started building Western saddles in 1977 ,but decided to up skill at a Robin Yates school run by that old now famous Bushman Poet and Saddlemaker Jack Drake who now lives in Aussie, whoever after making saddles the conventional way and realizing sales where'nt happening over night I went into manufacturing dog collars & leads for Masterpet Corp for some 20yrs only to slowly crawl back where I always wanted to be ,Building western saddles and seeing a need for a middle cost western saddle and with the closing down and passing of Charlie Leach I decided to step into that gap with an expensive setting up risk along the lines of the American saddle factories using bulk bought leather from NZ & Argentina,High tensil Plastic moulded saddle trees ,press cut parts, some press patterns and specialty machinery to get the prices down in the middle, where we have remained since even with the overseas cheap (Mexican Chinese & Indian)compitition,we back up all we sell because we make saddles for you not for us,we never sell a saddle until you and your horse are happy with it. We have 3 adult children,One being our daughter Miranda who rode successfully in western events for some years. We enjoy horse riding when we can find the time,I also enjoy Bowhunting when I can get out. I love the Cowboy western Lifestyle and fashion and live it to the max. We are both born again christians, kids as well, and do our best to live the life,as I tried the serious atheists life for 26yrs and found there was no prizes at the finish.
